Silver Beach
Tamil Nadu, India
Silver Beach is a vast, serene stretch on the southeast coast of India in Cuddalore, Tamil Nadu, spanning about 57 kilometers as one of Asia's longest beaches and the second longest on the Coromandel Coast.
Named for its shimmering waves, it offers mild waters ideal for swimming, scenic walks amid palm trees and coastal erosions, and views of a nearby lighthouse, mangrove forests, and historic Fort St. David built by the British. Just 2 km from Cuddalore town, it hosts summer festivals, birdwatching, and sunrises, though it suffered heavy damage from the 2004 tsunami and faces ongoing erosion.
