Sindhudurg Fort is a historic sea fort located on a rocky island off the coast of Malvan in Maharashtra's Konkan region.

Built by Chhatrapati Shivaji Maharaj between 1664 and 1667, it was designed as a naval stronghold to control maritime trade and defend against Portuguese, British, and Siddi naval threats. Spread over 48 acres, the fort features massive ramparts that are 30 feet high and 12 feet thick, with a rampart stretching about three kilometers long.

Its design includes a well-camouflaged entrance to mislead enemies, 52 bastions equipped with cannons for all-around defense, freshwater wells to sustain inhabitants during sieges, and internal structures like an ammunition depot, secret meeting rooms, and a palace for the queen. The fort is an architectural marvel of its time, seamlessly blending military strategy and engineering to withstand attacks and sea conditions.

Sindhudurg remains a symbol of Maratha naval power and historical resilience, attracting visitors for its rich heritage and coastal views.
