The main old workhouse block was converted into residential flats in 1990 and re‑named St Mary’s House, while the wider hospital site continued to provide acute NHS services. The structure is recognised for its historical role in the town’s welfare and healthcare history and today serves mainly as housing, retaining its Victorian character within the urban fabric of Portsea.
