Tajpur Beach

Tajpur Beach is a quiet, relatively undeveloped stretch of seafront in the Purba Medinipur district of West Bengal, India, situated between the more popular beaches of Mandarmani and Shankarpur on the Bay of Bengal side of the Kolkata–Digha route.

It lies near the village of Bera Khana and is known as one of the cleaner, less crowded “virgin” beaches around Kolkata, fringed by casuarina, eucalyptus and tamarisk trees that provide shade and a calm, leafy backdrop to the yellow sand.

The beach is famous for its large population of small red crabs that scatter across the sand, especially at low tide, adding a distinctive, almost crimson‑tinged look to the shoreline without heavy commercialization.

Amenities are still basic, with a few government‑run guesthouses, small restaurants and fish‑farming ponds nearby, making it a peaceful, low‑key choice for families and weekend travellers who prefer a simpler, slower beach experience over big resorts and nightlife.
