Tangrakottai, also known as Thenkaraikottai, is a ruined castle and fort situated near Pappireddipatti in Dharmapuri district, Tamil Nadu. Unlike many other forts built on hills, Tangrakottai stands on flat land and spans about 40 acres.

It was constructed by Seelappa Nayakkar and Chennappa Nayakkar of the Vijayanagara Empire, likely in the 14th century. The fort complex includes the Sri Kalyana Ramaswamy temple dedicated to Lord Rama, known for its beautiful architecture and unique musical pillars that produce classical Indian ragas. The site also has ruins of granaries, stables for elephants and horses, cannons, and bathing areas used by royalty.

Over time, the fort changed hands and was ruled by many significant figures including Tipu Sultan and Hyder Ali. The fort and temple reflect a mix of martial and spiritual heritage, with the temple believed to bring blessings and remove obstacles for devotees. The government has taken steps to preserve the site, which attracts visitors interested in history, architecture, and religious significance.​
