Taragarh Fort in Bundi, Rajasthan, built in 1354 by Rao Raja Bar Singh Hada, is a striking example of Rajput military architecture. Known as the "Star Fort" due to its star-shaped design, it was the first hilltop fort in the region, strategically located 1426 feet high on a steep Aravalli hill.

The fort's architecture features robust walls, bastions, and multiple gates including the massive Bhim Burj, which housed the huge cannon Garbh Gunjam, known for its thunderous sound. Inside, the fort contains palaces such as the Chhatra Mahal and Badal Mahal, adorned with colorful frescoes and intricate woodwork that highlight Bundi’s artistic heritage.

The extensive tunnel system within served as escape routes during sieges, saving the ruling dynasty multiple times. Taragarh Fort is also praised for its water management system with large tanks that ensured water supply during prolonged conflicts. Its panoramic views of the city and surrounding hills, along with its well-preserved murals and architectural grandeur, make it one of Rajasthan’s most fascinating historical sites.
