Thenford Gardens and Arboretum, located near Banbury, United Kingdom, cover over seventy acres and are the creation of Michael and Anne Heseltine, who purchased the estate in 1976.

The arboretum boasts more than three thousand different trees and shrubs, extensive herbaceous borders, water gardens, an alpine trough garden, a sculpture garden, a rose garden, and a rill. Key features include restored medieval fish ponds and hewn lakes, a two-acre walled garden designed by George Carter with copper-domed pavilions, mirror pools, fruit cages, an aviary, and a central water feature by William Pye.

The collection is notable for having over 600 varieties of snowdrops and includes many National Champion Trees. The landscape combines 18th-century design traditions with a modern emphasis on plant enthusiasts’ collections, offering stunning seasonal displays, especially in autumn.

The arboretum also hosts various events and specialist workshops and has become one of the most impressive and significant modern gardens in the UK, blending historical landscape elements with diverse and innovative planting schemes.
