Thiruvambadi Black Beach Varkala
Kerala, India
Thiruvambadi Black Beach, also called Thiruvambady Beach or simply Black Sand Beach, is a quiet, lesser‑known shore near Varkala in Kerala’s Thiruvananthapuram district, lying just beside the North Cliff and a short walk from the main Varkala Cliff area.
Its most striking feature is the dark‑coloured sand, giving the beach a unique, moody look compared with the more familiar golden‑sand stretches along the coast. The beach is relatively short but peaceful, with gentle waves, coconut groves, and a secluded atmosphere that makes it popular for quiet walks, swimming, photography and small picnics away from the crowds of the main Varkala beach.
