Tkalec Manor
Zagreb, Croatia
Tkalec Manor, located near the village of Štrigova in northern Croatia, was built in the mid-18th century in the Baroque style. It was originally owned by the Pauline Catholic Order until their abolition by Emperor Joseph II in 1786.
During the 19th century, the manor came under the ownership of the Zichy family, who also held estates in nearby Slovenia. The manor features a long porch with arcades and a large cellar housing a historic wooden wine press from 1858, reflecting the area's long tradition of wine production.
Before Croatia's independence, the manor was managed by a local agricultural cooperative until its privatization in 1990. It remains an important cultural and historical site showcasing Baroque architecture and the region's viticultural heritage.
