Tungi Fort, often associated with Mangi-Tungi, is located near Tahrabad in Nashik district, Maharashtra. It is part of a twin-peaked mountain, with Tungi being the eastern pinnacle standing at about 4,366 feet above sea level.

Unlike typical forts, Tungi is more of a spiritual site, renowned for its ancient Jain caves, temples, and rock carvings that date back over a thousand years. The fort area includes several old temples dedicated to Jain Tirthankaras, with significant idols such as those of Lord Chandraprabha and Lord Parshvanath. The site holds great religious importance as a Siddha Kshetra, a place of liberation according to Jain philosophy.

It is believed that many Jain ascetics attained moksha here. The region is also linked to Hindu legends involving Lord Rama, Lord Krishna, and others who are said to have visited or performed penance in the area. The terrain around Tungi is a plateau with water tanks and is surrounded by lush nature, making it attractive for both spiritual pilgrims and trekkers.

The fort itself is not a military stronghold but serves as a prominent religious and cultural landmark in Maharashtra. The area hosts an annual fair during the Kartika month, drawing devotees and tourists alike. Access to Tungi Fort is typically from the village of Bhilwadi, and the trek offers both historical significance and scenic beauty.
