The University of Bristol Botanic Garden, established in 1882, has moved locations three times before settling in its current site at Stoke Bishop in 2005. Located within the grounds of The Holmes, a historic Arts and Crafts style house, the garden covers 1.77 hectares and combines informal and formal plantings designed for both education and beauty.

It features around 4,500 plant species organized into collections such as evolution, Mediterranean, local and rare natives, and useful plants including medicinal herbs. The garden also includes advanced greenhouses with different climate zones housing tropical and aquatic plants, and it serves as a research and learning resource while offering peaceful outdoor space for visitors and students.

This modern botanical garden was the first new university botanic garden created in the UK in nearly 40 years, designed to be innovative yet rooted in educational purpose.
