Vanhalinna Museum in Vanha Härkätie, Finland, is located on the site of an ancient hillfort known as the Old Castle of Lieto, which was used from the Late Bronze Age through the Middle Ages.

The hillfort, situated on Linnavuori hill above the Aura river valley, is one of Finland’s most researched ancient sites and contains artefacts dating back to the Stone Age.

The manor house estate, which gives the museum its name, was developed in the early 1900s and later turned into a living museum by the Wanhalinna family, who donated the estate to the University of Turku in the 1950s.

The museum presents archaeology, local history, and folk culture through exhibitions of artifacts, including a replica Viking ship, and showcases rural Finnish life from the 1800s. It serves as a cultural center and popular destination for visitors interested in Finland’s ancient heritage and traditional countryside.
