Verified Yellow Fortress

Bosnia and Herzegovina, Bosnia and Herzegovina

Yellow Fortress, also known as Žuta Tabija, is an 18th-century Ottoman cannon fortress in Sarajevo, set at the entrance to the historic Vratnik district.

It was built between 1727 and 1739 as part of the city’s defenses, and today it is better known as a scenic viewpoint with wide views over Sarajevo. It is also famous for the Ramadan cannon tradition, when a cannon is fired at sunset to mark the end of the daily fast.
