The Botanischer Alpengarten Schynige Platte, located near Gündlischwand in the Bernese Oberland region of Switzerland, was established in 1927 with the goal of showcasing and studying Swiss Alpine plants within their natural plant communities.

Situated at about 2,000 meters above sea level, it covers over 8,000 square meters and features around 600 species indigenous to the Swiss Alps growing in a landscape that was previously used as alpine pasture. The garden was created through a collaboration among scientists, conservationists, and local authorities, maintaining its original concept of planting species according to their natural communities rather than arranged flower beds.

The garden has educational significance, hosting annual alpine botanical courses since 1932, and offers stunning panoramic views of nearby peaks such as the Eiger, Mönch, and Jungfrau. It also has a formal partnership and shared knowledge exchange with Japan's Rokko Alpine Botanical Garden, highlighting its international role in alpine plant conservation and research.​
