Likely built by Kyburg ministerials or to challenge the Bishop of Constance's nearby holdings around 1120, it passed from noble ownership by the late 14th century, becoming a farmhouse by 1408 before restoration.
Acquired by the municipality in 1958 and renovated from 1965-1967, it now operates as a local history museum showcasing regional artifacts on a 9x9 meter stone base with an 11-meter height.
