Burg Strassberg Malix
Malix, Churwalden, Switzerland, Switzerland
Burg Strassberg, also known as Burgruine Strassberg, is a ruined medieval castle located above the village of Malix in the municipality of Churwalden, Graubünden canton, Switzerland.
Constructed around 1200 with its ring wall in the late 12th century and main tower added early in the 13th, it served as a fief of the Lords of Vaz before passing to the Counts of Toggenburg, Montfort family, and Habsburg-Austria by 1466.
Destroyed during the Swabian War in 1499, the remnants including the tower offer a glimpse into high medieval alpine fortifications and are accessible to hikers as a cultural heritage site.
