Burgruine Dübelstein
Dübendorf, Switzerland
Burgruine Dübelstein is a medieval castle ruin on the northeastern slope of Adlisberg hill near Dübendorf in Switzerland's canton of Zurich, built around the mid-13th century by the Lords of Dübendorf on a flattened rock outcrop.
It changed hands multiple times, including to Zurich mayor Hans Waldmann in 1487, before being plundered after his 1489 execution and destroyed by fire in 1611 when a maid dried flax indoors.
The site preserves thick walls and a circular defensive structure as a Class B Swiss cultural property, accessible via a short path for hikers exploring regional medieval history.
