Rebuilt in the 14th-15th centuries by the Genoese and notably by Ottoman Grand Vizier Çandarlı Halil Pasha the Younger to safeguard Sultan Murat II, it features a rectangular layout with five well-preserved towers, sturdy walls, and panoramic views of the Aegean Sea.
