Château d’Auvernier
Auvernier, Milvignes, Switzerland, Switzerland
Château d’Auvernier is a historic 16th-century castle in the village of Auvernier, part of Milvignes municipality in Switzerland's canton of Neuchâtel, built in 1559 by Blaise Junod, governor of the Valangin seigneury.
Acquired in 1603 by Pierre Chambrier along with 7 hectares of vineyards, it has remained in the same family for over 400 years through female-line marriages, producing renowned Neuchâtel wines from Chardonnay and Pinot Noir on its Burgundy-like slopes moderated by Lake Neuchâtel.
The estate now features Caves du Château d'Auvernier cellars with 15th-century vaults offering tastings and tours, blending winemaking heritage with scenic lakeside views near prehistoric pile dwellings.
