Château de Vufflens
Vufflens-le-Château, Switzerland, Switzerland
Château de Vufflens is a striking medieval castle in Vufflens-le-Château, canton of Vaud, Switzerland, rebuilt between 1420 and 1430 by Henri de Colombier on the site of an earlier fortress first mentioned in 1108.
Featuring a massive 60-meter brick donjon surrounded by four towers and a separate residential wing with stone turrets connected by ramparts, it was burned by Bernese troops in 1530, later passing to the de Senarclens and de Saussure families who restored it in the 19th century.
Privately owned and classified as a Swiss heritage site of national significance, the well-preserved structure exemplifies rare brick architecture in western Switzerland, overlooking vineyards and offering panoramic views amid its scenic hilltop location.
