Gräpplang Castle
Flums, Switzerland
Gräpplang Castle is a medieval ruin perched high above Flums in the canton of St. Gallen, Switzerland, first documented in 1249 and built around 1220 by the Knights of Flums on a rocky ridge known as the "long rock."
It served as an administrative seat for the Hochstift Chur, passed through various noble hands including pledges to Ulrich von Flums in 1292, endured extortion during the Old Zürich War, and remained with the Tschudi family from 1528 until sold for demolition in 1804 after falling into disuse.
