Originally used as a vineyard by the Augustinian Monastery of Interlaken, the main building was rebuilt in the early 16th and 17th centuries and passed through various owners after the monastery's dissolution during the Reformation.
Since 1976, it has served as a guesthouse and retreat center run by the Christusträger Community, offering hospitality to vacationers and pilgrims along the Camino de Santiago near the Beatus Caves, preserved as a cultural landmark.
