Its polygonal masonry points to origins in the Seleucid or Roman era, serving as a garrison with double-layer ramparts supported by backing walls, northern workshops, northeastern mausoleums, southern graves, and rooms.
A notable Heracles figure on the wall symbolizes ties to the Olba Kingdom, a Seleucid vassal, accessible only by foot through bushy terrain about 20 km from Erdemli.
