Kızlar Kalesi
Toroslar, Mersin, Türkiye, Turkey
Kızlar Kalesi, also known as Maiden's Castle, is a historic island fortress off the coast of Erdemli in Mersin Province, southern Turkey, built primarily by the Byzantines in the 12th century and later rebuilt by the Armenian Kingdom of Cilicia.
Perched on a small islet 600 meters from shore, it once connected to the mainland Corycus Castle via a breakwater, featuring 192 meters of curved ramparts, eight uniquely shaped bastions, a northern main gate, cisterns, and a barrel-vaulted chapel amid mosaics and workshops.
