Katuwana Dutch Fort, also known as Fort Catuna or Fort Catoene, is a small inland fort built by the Dutch in 1646 near the town of Katuwana in the Hambantota District of Sri Lanka, about 40–50 km northeast of Matara.

It was constructed on the slope of a hill at the northern limit of Dutch territory to guard the historic road between Kandy and Matara, protect Dutch commercial activities and spice trade, and prevent raids from the Kandyan kingdom into the coastal lowlands. The fort is roughly square or diagonal in shape, with about 5‑meter‑high external ramparts, 4‑meter‑wide walkways on top, two bastions (each originally accommodating six cannon), and a single narrow entrance, so it is often described more as a redoubt than a large fort.

During the 1761 Matara Rebellion, Katuwana was captured by Kirti Sri Rajasinha’s Kandyan forces, partly destroyed, and after the British annexed Kandy in 1815 it lost strategic importance and was abandoned. By the 20th century the site was largely overgrown, but from the 1990s and especially after 2006, the Department of Archaeology and the Dutch government carried out excavations, reconstruction and conservation, removing government buildings from inside and restoring parts of the walls and gate.

Today, Katuwana Fort is one of the most intact inland Dutch fortifications in Sri Lanka, protected as an archaeological monument, and visitors can walk its ramparts, see the original granite masonry and bastions, and explore the area where Dutch soldiers, officers and storage buildings once stood, all in a quiet, rural setting near the Urubokka stream and the Katuwana District Secretariat.
