Martello Tower

Martello Tower in Hambantota is a small round British-era coastal fort built between 1804 and 1806 to defend the harbor and settlement after attacks in the area.
It stands on the site of an earlier Dutch fort and is one of the few Martello-type towers in Sri Lanka. Restored in 1999, it now serves as a fisheries museum and remains a notable colonial landmark.
