Oberdiessbach Castle
Oberdiessbach, Switzerland, Switzerland
Oberdiessbach Castle, known as the Neues Schloss, is a late French Renaissance-style chateau in Oberdiessbach, Canton of Bern, Switzerland, built between 1666 and 1668 by Albrecht von Wattenwyl, a colonel in French service.
Constructed near the earlier Alte Schloss from 1546 on the site of a destroyed medieval fortress, it features a symmetrical design with a monumental staircase, paladin windows, and a Baroque garden aligned with kilometer-long alleys, remaining largely unchanged since completion.
Still owned by the von Wattenwyl family and listed as a Swiss heritage site of national significance, it hosts tours, events like the Castle Jazz Festival, and stands amid 75 hectares of family farms.
