Počitelj, located in the Čapljina municipality of Herzegovina-Neretva, Bosnia and Herzegovina, is a historic village known for its well-preserved medieval and Ottoman architecture. The village is built on a natural karst amphitheater along the left bank of the Neretva river, with narrow stone-paved streets, traditional stone houses, and significant landmarks like the Počitelj Fortress and the 16th-century Šišman Ibrahim Pasha Mosque.

The fortress, built in the late 14th century and expanded by the Ottomans, offers panoramic views and reflects the town’s defensive importance in history. Počitelj was once a vital administrative and strategic center, with its architecture blending medieval and Ottoman influences, showing historic public buildings, residential houses, a clock tower, and a bathhouse.

Despite damage during the 1990s conflict, restoration efforts have preserved much of its original charm, and it is considered an open-air museum and a candidate for UNESCO World Heritage status.
