Built around the 12th century with evidence of earlier 10th-century activity from archaeological finds like pottery fragments, it features a five-sided ring wall enclosing about 1,000 square meters and served as a strategic defensive site overlooking the surrounding landscape.
Designated a protected heritage site in the Swiss Inventory of Cultural Property, the ruins attract hikers for their historical significance and views, with a small 1872 pension built in the courtyard adding a unique modern touch amid the ancient remnants.
