Sancakburnu Castle, also called Yenikale, is a 17th-century Ottoman fortress in the Inciraltı district of İzmir's Narlıdere area, Turkey, positioned at the narrow entrance to the Gulf of İzmir for naval oversight.
Constructed around 1659 under Grand Vizier Köprülü Mehmed Pasha to monitor shipping and counter threats, it endured repairs after earthquakes like in 1688 under Sultan Suleiman II and saw action in World War I naval clashes.
The structure, now in a restricted military zone, reflects Ottoman coastal defense architecture amid the historic port city's layered past.
