Schloss Ebenrain
Sissach, Switzerland, Switzerland
Schloss Ebenrain is a late Baroque country residence built between 1774 and 1776 in Sissach, canton of Basel-Landschaft, Switzerland, commissioned by Basel silk merchant Martin Bachofen-Heitz as a luxurious summer estate.
Designed by architect Samuel Werenfels with gardens by Niklaus Sprüngli, it passed through merchant families amid dramatic events like a suicide in 1824 before cantonal acquisition in 1951, featuring restored Baroque interiors, English-style parks, and a linden avenue.
Recognized as Switzerland's most significant late Baroque residence in the northwest, it now hosts public exhibitions, concerts, and events while its farm operates as an agricultural school.
