Schloss Maienfeld, also known as Brandis Castle, is a medieval fortress in the town of Maienfeld, Graubünden canton, Switzerland, originally built around 1247-1275 by the von Aspermont family as their seat.
Expanded by the Counts of Toggenburg in the 14th-15th centuries with a residential wing and later owned by the von Brandis family, it endured destruction during the 1499 Swabian War, French occupation in 1799, and fires, before being restored in the 19th-20th centuries.
Today, the imposing tower and complex serve as a restaurant and event venue, recognized as a Swiss heritage site amid the Rhine Valley vineyards near the Heidi story settings.
