Schloss Muri
Muri bei Bern, Switzerland, Switzerland
Schloss Muri is a 16th-century castle in the municipality of Muri bei Bern in Switzerland's Canton of Bern, rebuilt around 1650 by Colonel Johann Rudolf von Diesbach on the site of an earlier manor house.
Favored by Bernese patricians for its proximity to the city and mild climate, it passed through noble families like von Mülinen, Henggi, Lehmann, von Wagner, and von Ernst, with major expansions including a rebuilt main tower in 1758 and neoclassical alterations in the 1850s.
Privately owned today by descendants of the von Ernst family, the compact structure with its pointed stair tower and outbuildings remains a heritage site amid Muri's historic landscape near other estates like Gümligen Castle.
