Seeburg Castle
Kreuzlingen, Switzerland, Switzerland
Seeburg Castle is a picturesque late medieval fortress situated in a scenic park on the shores of Lake Constance in Kreuzlingen, canton of Thurgau, Switzerland.
Originally constructed around 1598 as Neuhorn by Jakob Atzenholz-Zollikofer, it served as a summer residence for the abbots of Kreuzlingen Abbey until Swedish troops burned it in 1633 during the Thirty Years' War, prompting a 1664 rebuild.
Acquired by the canton in the 19th century after serving as a teachers' seminary, it was extensively renovated in historicist style by 1870 and became municipal property in 1958, now functioning as a restaurant and event venue as a Swiss heritage site of national significance.
