Torre Pala
San Vittore, Switzerland, Switzerland
Torre Pala is a medieval tower, also known as Pala Castle, situated on a mountain terrace north of San Vittore village in Graubünden canton, Switzerland.
The southern residential tower likely dates to the late 12th century, possibly built for local noble Albertus de Sancto Victore or the Counts of Sax, while the larger northern tower was added in the 13th century and raised around 1400 to six stories.
Linked by a bridge and featuring defensive elements like latrines and niches, it was abandoned in the 15th century after its owners died out, later stabilized in 1944 and 1997, and stands today as a Swiss heritage site of national significance.
