Turmstiftung Schloss Holligen
Bern, Switzerland, Switzerland
Turmstiftung Schloss Holligen manages the historic donjon tower of Holligen Castle in Bern, Switzerland, a Swiss heritage site of national significance first mentioned in 1257 as a mill site along the Sulgenbach.
Built around 1500 by Bernese Schultheiss Wilhelm von Diesbach in late Gothic Burgundian style with a square donjon of massive stone blocks and corner towers, it later gained a residential hall and staircase tower by 1575 under Peter von Graffenried.
The foundation preserves this cultural landmark for public cultural use while the broader castle complex evolved through centuries of noble ownership, Baroque expansions, and 19th-century renovations.
