Wildenberg
Zernez, Switzerland, Switzerland
Wildenberg Castle, also known as Schloss Planta-Wildenberg, is a medieval residential tower in Zernez, Graubünden canton, Switzerland, likely built around 1280 as the seat of the Planta-Wildenberg family after earlier ownership by the Wildenberg family from the 13th century.
It suffered major damage during the 1618 Bündner Wirren riots but was rebuilt under Austrian protection, with significant Baroque conversions in the 18th century by owners like Johann Heinrich von Planta.
Today, the well-preserved structure with its central tower and wings serves as the Swiss National Park administration headquarters since 1956, holding national heritage status alongside sites like the nearby Reformed Church.
