Zaliztsi Castle
Zaliztsi, Ukraine, Ukraine
Zaliztsi Castle in Zaliztsi, Ternopil Oblast, Ukraine, was constructed in 1516 as a defensive stronghold by Marcin Kamieniecki, Voivode of Podolia bearing the Pilawa coat of arms, strategically positioned on the Seret River amid ponds for protection against invasions.
This architectural monument of national importance later served as a gathering point for False Dmitry I's forces and endured the turbulent history of the region through Polish, Ottoman, and later conflicts.
Today, only two crenellated round towers remain from its once-majestic structure, surrounded by scenic water features and offering a glimpse into 16th-century fortifications near the village.
