Zolotopotitsʹkyy Zamok
Zolotyi Potik, Ukraine
Zolotopotitskyy Zamok in Zolotyi Potik, Ukraine, is a late Renaissance castle built in the early 17th century by Stefan Potocki of the Piława Potocki line as a fortified residence on the Zolota River's left bank, featuring 2-meter-thick stone walls, four corner embrasures, and later additions like a second floor for defense against invasions.
Constructed to protect merchant trade routes, it endured destruction by Turkish-Tartar forces in 1676 under Ibrahim Sheitan and earlier ravages during Bohdan Khmelnytsky's uprising, passing through noble hands before a 1935 fire and partial Soviet-era reconstruction.
Today, the atmospheric ruins—protected as a national monument (61-212-0013)—stand amid Ternopil Oblast countryside, evoking the Potocki family's golden era alongside local landmarks like the Church of the Holy Trinity.
