Castle Henkenshage in Sint-Oedenrode, Netherlands, began in the early 14th century as a simple noble house called Hanekenshage or Haenkenshage, a single-story structure surrounded by a thorny hedge for protection.

In the 15th century known as Strijpe or Streepen, it gained a more castle-like look in the 18th century under the de Girard de Mielet van Coehoorn family, who owned it from around 1850 and commissioned architect P.J.H. Cuypers between 1850-1860 to add three towers, a second floor, a redesigned facade, gatehouse, and stables.

During World War II it served as a distribution office and in 1944 as headquarters for the 101st Airborne Division, later donated to the municipality in 1956 with conditions for public use and no further alterations, now functioning as a wedding and event venue.
