Verified Glehni loss

Tallinn, Estonia, Estonia

Glehni loss (Glehn Castle) is a distinctive castle in Tallinn’s Nõmme district, built in 1886 by the visionary landowner and architect Nikolai von Glehn as his residence.

Constructed from local limestone on a scenic hillside, the castle is one of Tallinn’s most unusual landmarks and reflects Glehn’s creative and romantic architectural style. The castle is surrounded by a park featuring sculptures, a former palm house, and an observation tower that later became the Tallinn Observatory.

After being abandoned and heavily damaged following World War I, the building fell into ruin before being extensively restored between the 1960s and 1970s. Today, Glehn Castle is an important cultural and historical attraction, known for its fairytale-like appearance and beautiful woodland setting. It is used for events, concerts, conferences, and weddings, while its grounds remain a popular place for visitors exploring Tallinn’s heritage.
