Heeze Castle
Heeze, Netherlands, Netherlands
Heeze Castle in Heeze, Netherlands, served as the center of the medieval seigneury of Heeze, Leende, and Zesgehuchten within the Duchy of Brabant, originally owned by the powerful de Horne family.
In the 17th century, architect Pieter Post designed a grand new castle, with construction starting in 1665 and completed by his son Maurits Post, though rising material costs halted the project early, leaving the current occupied portion as intended servants' quarters.
Purchased in 1760 by Jan Maximiliaan van Tuyll van Serooskerken, whose family still resides there, it incorporates remnants of the older 13th-century Eymerick Castle in its moated eastern section, now open for tours showcasing preserved interiors amid scenic grounds.
