Initially budgeted at 60 million guilders (about 27 million euros) and later doubled to 120 million, the project halted in 2002 due to financial issues, leaving incomplete walls, towers, and foundations fenced off near the A6 highway. Now the Netherlands' largest contemporary ruin, it serves as a protected bat habitat and draws curiosity as a visible landmark from the road.
