Kasteel Keppel in Laag-Keppel, Netherlands, originated around 1300 as a medieval keep built by the Lords of Keppel, later passing to the Van Voorst and Van Pallandt families who held it for centuries amid conflicts like a 1362 siege by Utrecht's bishop and multiple assaults during the Eighty Years' War, culminating in its 1582 destruction by State troops.

Rebuilt from 1609 under city architect Willem van Bommel using surviving walls and Renaissance gables completed by 1620, it saw French occupation as Louis XIV's headquarters in 1672, further expansions by Gerrit Ravenschot in 1750, and final rear wing connections in 1850, forming its current island layout between Oude IJssel branches with a preserved 16th-century bouwhuis and Dieventoren.

Still privately inhabited by Van Pallandt descendants, the moated castle remains closed to the public but stands as a prominent landmark in the Gelderland landscape.
