Kherson State Agrarian University, now known as Kherson State Agrarian and Economic University (KhSAEU), is a public, non-profit higher education institution in Kherson that traces its origins back to 1874, making it one of the oldest agrarian universities in southern Ukraine. It holds the highest (IV) level of accreditation and focuses on training specialists for agriculture, fisheries, ecology, water management, construction, economics and related fields, serving as a key regional center for agrarian and economic education and research. The university teaches around 4,000–5,000 students across all levels from junior bachelor to doctorate, organized into five main faculties—Agronomic, Biological-Technological, Fisheries and Nature Management, Architecture and Construction, and Economic—and offers more than 30 educational programs. Its staff includes hundreds of academic personnel with many Doctors of Sciences and Candidates of Sciences, and over recent decades they have secured hundreds of patents and copyright certificates, reflecting an active culture of innovation and applied research. The campus infrastructure comprises several academic buildings, dormitories, a scientific library, museums, sports facilities, a water station on the Dnieper River, and a seaside recreation center, giving students practical environments for field training and recreation alongside classroom study.
