Oud verkeerspark Assen
Assen, Netherlands
Oud Verkeerspark Assen refers to the former Verkeerspark Assen, a now‑closed traffic‑themed amusement park in Assen in the Dutch province of Drenthe.
The park started in the 1950s in the city center as a youth traffic‑education site where children could drive small pedal cars on a miniature road network with real‑scale traffic signs and signals, later growing into a larger leisure attraction at De Haar near the TT Circuit.
Over the years it became a popular school‑trip destination where kids could “earn” a mini driver’s licence while practicing road rules in a safe, playful environment. The public park in Assen stopped operating around 2014 and the site was later damaged by fires, although parts of the concept were moved and reused in a smaller format at Duinen Zathe in Appelscha.
