Slotje Limburg
Oosterhout, Netherlands, Netherlands
Slotje Limburg is one of Oosterhout's historic "slotjes," small noble residences in North Brabant, Netherlands, originating as a 14th-century farm possibly linked to the Templars before passing to the Knights of St. John in 1312.
In the 15th century, Peter de Hertoghe, rentmeester of the Duchy of Limburg, transformed it into a hunting lodge with added wings around a courtyard and corner towers, giving it its name. It later served as a refuge for displaced nuns in 1875 and Redemptorist priests until 1902.
Then private homes before becoming Oosterhout's town hall in the mid-20th century, with the courtyard filled in during 1948 expansions, and now used as offices not open to the public.
