Van der Valk Hotel Kasteel Terworm in Heerlen, Netherlands, is a 14th-century moated castle originally built as a square fortress with round and rectangular towers around a courtyard by the Lord of Strijthagen, later owned by nobles like Diederick van Pallandt and the Van Hallen family who rebuilt it after a 1550 fire.

Destroyed and restored multiple times, it gained French rococo gardens in 1767 under Count van der Heyden-Belderbusch and expanded under the Loë-d'Imstenraedt family before falling into disrepair in the late 20th century.

Purchased and meticulously restored by the Van der Valk hotel chain from 1997-1999, it now operates as a luxury 4-star hotel with 40 rooms and suites, a gourmet restaurant, event spaces, and access to the 220-hectare estate blending historic charm with modern amenities.
