Strmol Castle, near Cerklje na Gorenjskem in Slovenia, is a 13th-century fortress named after the Strmol knights who first held it, evolving from a medieval keep surrounded by defensive walls and four towers into a Renaissance-Baroque manor with richly furnished interiors.

Passing through families like the Counts of Celje, Rains, Ruessensteins, and later Urbančičs and Hribars—who hosted cultural elites before WWII—it survived Turkish raids, peasant revolts, and wartime liquidation, becoming a state protocol site post-war.

Renovated 2010-2012 as a national cultural monument, it now operates as a boutique hotel and conference venue with modern amenities amid scenic lakes, forests, and historic authenticity.
