Báthory Castle and Wax Museum in Nyírbátor is a restored historic castle closely associated with the powerful Báthory family, one of the most influential noble families in medieval Hungary.

The original manor house dates back to the 14th century and was expanded into a larger castle complex during the 15th century. After centuries of decline, the surviving section of the castle was carefully reconstructed and reopened in 2006. It is the only remaining part of the original castle that still contains medieval architectural elements within its walls.

The museum’s main attraction is its collection of life-size wax figures, which recreate important events, legends, and personalities connected to the Báthory family and Hungarian history. Detailed scenes and period settings help visitors visualize life during the Renaissance era and learn about both historical facts and local legends.
